The
owner
of a
Louisville
motel
and
fishing
store
is
looking
to
expand
on
his
businesses
this
spring
in
preparation
for
the
influx
of
fishermen
coming
to
the
north
country
in
summer.
With
the
Lakeview
Motel
and
Apartments
already
seeing
75
percent
more
rooms
booked
for
this
summer
than
last,
Jerry
E.
Laramay
wants
to
add
10
rooms
to
his
14-unit
complex
on
county
Route
131.
Before
Mr.
Laramay
also
starts
importing
more
European
rods
and
reels
designed
for
carp
fishing
for
his
other
business,
he
wants
to
get
his
4-acre
property
zoned
commercial.
American
Carp
Adventures
runs
out
of
the
barn
behind
the
Lakeview
Motel.
"I'd
hate
to
have
that
squashed
because
it
isn't
commercial,"
said
the
45-year-old
licensed
charter
captain.
The
Lakeview
Motel
was
built
more
than
30
years
ago
and
was
permitted
to
stay
on
residentially
zoned
property
because
it
preceded
the
town's
zoning
law.
Mr.
Laramay
purchased
the
site
about
seen
years
ago.
About
two
years
ago,
Mr.
Laramay
opened
American
Carp
Adventures,
where
he
sells
tackle
and
takes
people
on
guided
tours.
Many
fishermen
also
stay
at
the
motel.
The
St.
Lawrence
County
Planning
Board
today
will
review
Mr.
Laramay's
proposal
to
have
his
property
rezoned.
Waddington
and
other
communities
along
the
St.
Lawrence
River
are
gearing
up
for
the
St.
Lawrence
International
Junior
Carp
Tournament.

The
tournament
is
for
children
11
to
18
years
old
and
will
be
held
from
Aug.
22
to
23.
It
features
a
$10,000
grand
prize
and
is
expected
to
draw
300
participants.
A
carp
fishing
school
will
be
held
in
Waddington
from
Aug.
19-21.
The
Lakeview
Motel
has
had
about
80
people
book
rooms
there
from
May
through
October.
"The
way
it's
looking,
if
the
war
doesn't
mess
things
up,
this
is
going
to
be
quite
a
productive
year,"
Mr.
Laramay
said.
Mr.
Laramay
said
his
main
clientele
are
Europeans
from
the
United
Kingdom
and
France.
This
year
he
is
also
seeing
more
fishermen
coming
to
Louisville
from
Midwestern
states.
"I
expect
it
to
get
more
every
year,"
Mr.
Laramay
said.
